This Dole Coleslaw is a classic refreshing salad that you can serve with fried chicken, grilled shrimp, pulled pork, hamburgers, and sandwiches. It’s irresistibly creamy, tangy, and full of fresh flavor!

Typical coleslaw is made from a combination of mayonnaise, sugar, dry mustard, and lemon juice. The secret to coleslaw’s popularity is that it uses inexpensive and easy-to-find ingredients.

This recipe is based on the classic recipe on the back of the Dole brand bagged coleslaw mix. You can find this mix at practically any grocery store and contains shredded carrots and green cabbage.

You add then a homemade dressing sauce and voilà! It’s so easy to make and takes only 10 minutes of preparation!

How To Make It

Add sour cream, lemon juice, mayonnaise, mustard powder, sugar, and celery seed to a large mixing bowl. Whisk the ingredients together to form a dressing.

Add the contents of the bag of Dole coleslaw mix into the bowl.

Use the tongs to coat the coleslaw mix with the dressing. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator to chill. This will allow the coleslaw to marinate in the dressing.

After 1 hour, serve the coleslaw with Lipton Onion Soup Meatloaf, Ina Garten Lamb Chops, Fried mahi mahi, Ina Garten Quiche or Buffalo Wild Wings Mac and Cheese Recipe.

Easy Tips


  • Go light on the dressing, or else you’ll end up with soggy coleslaw. I recommend adding little bits of dressing at a time until you reach the desired amount.

  • Make your coleslaw more flavorful by adding ingredients like onion powder, paprika, or garlic powder.

  • Use dry mustard powder, not mustard sauce. The mustard sauce will add extra moisture, which will end up making your coleslaw soggy.

Storage

Since it contains mayonnaise, this dole coleslaw can be refrigerated for 2-3 days max.
