With these delicious recipes, you’ll never wonder what to eat with guacamole again! These creative dishes will put your avocados to good use in the tastiest of ways.

what to eat with guacamole

Guacamole is a staple of Mexican cuisine. It’s made from mashed avocados with lime juice, salt, and sometimes additions like onion and cilantro.

The Aztecs enjoyed guacamole with tortillas as far back as the 1500s. The name guacamole is actually a simplification of the Aztec term “ahuaca-mulli” which means avocado sauce or mixture.

This creamy irresistible dip is now a staple at parties and special events like the Super Bowl and Cinco de Mayo. Guacamole and chips are the quintessential appetizer at any Mexican restaurant, and also make a delicious nacho topping.

But foodies know that guacamole can be so much more than a dip! From soups to seafood, I’ve put together this list of delicious and out-of-the-box ways to use guacamole.

what to eat with guacamole recipe

01. Burgers

All this fully loaded burger is missing is a dollop of creamy guacamole!

A creamy element like guacamole can help balance juicy ingredients like tomatoes and lettuce. Salty burger toppings like bacon help infuse the guacamole with extra flavor and smokiness.

The tanginess of the lime offers some freshness to offset the fattiness of the cheese and burger patty.

02. Tortilla Chips

Chips and fresh guacamole are the power pairing everyone knows and loves.

There’s something about the contrast between a crunchy corn chip and this creamy dip! These homemade deep-fried corn chips are extra thick, so no breakage!

For a zesty, summery flair, try adding a squirt of lime juice to your chips.

03. Eggs on Toast

Everyone’s heard of mashed avocado toast, but what about egg and avocado together?

This is one of my favorite luxurious brunch treats. The runny yolk and guacamole give the toast a fatty richness that’s mouthwatering.

Add some sprouts and a drizzle of hot sauce or lemon juice for a pop of flavor. A nice grainy toast will give this dish earthiness, and keep it super healthy.

04. Lemon Chicken

Citrus and avocado complement each perfectly, so this pairing is a no-brainer.

Since chicken breast is such a lean meat, the guacamole helps add some fat and flavor. The olive oil and herb sauce even helps elevate the citrus flavors in the guacamole recipe.

Eat guacamole on the side as a dipping sauce for your cooked chicken. A mild starch like white rice is a great pairing to balance all those fragrant ingredients.

05. Baked Potatoes

Guacamole is a healthier alternative to cheese and sour cream!

If you’re serving up baked potatoes for vegans or vegetarians, guacamole is a great topper. It has all the fat and tanginess of sour cream but doesn’t contain any animal ingredients.

You can also make a Mexican-flavored baked potato using guacamole, beans, and chili spice. Even just guacamole and diced tomatoes will add moisture and make your potatoes tasty.

06. Deviled Eggs

Guacamole gives these deviled eggs the pop of flavor they need!

Deviled eggs are a classic appetizer at brunches and picnics, but they could use a makeover. A punchy guacamole filling can transform bland eggs into something fresh and delicious!

Deviled eggs are great to make ahead if you’re short on time. Just fill your eggs and keep them covered in the fridge until your guests arrive.

07. Pita Bread

This dippable bread is more filling than chips, and healthier too!

Pitas have the perfect density and firmness that makes them great for dips like hummus and guacamole. Baking powder and yeast give pitas that characteristic puffiness that makes them also great for stuffed sandwiches.

Homemade pita bread is so much more moist and soft than any store-bought variety. This recipe is perfect for storing in the freezer for last-minute meals!

08. Taco Soup

All the taco flavors you love, in a stomach-warming soup.

This 30-minute soup is filled with grilled corn, lean ground turkey, and beans, all in a tangy tomato broth. All you need is a packet of taco seasoning and it tastes just like taco night!

Taco soup wouldn’t be complete without a medley of toppings. Creamy guacamole will balance the spiciness, or try crushed tortilla chips for some crunch!

09. Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Creamy and crispy, this sandwich hits all the marks!

Grilled cheese is one of my favorite comfort foods, but it’s not necessarily healthy. Swap out buttery guacamole instead of cheese and you get a creamy but also nutritious filling!

Additions like sliced tomato and bacon can truly elevate the flavor of this dish. If you’re looking for a Mexican-inspired snack, try including guacamole and a spicy cheese like Pepper Jack.

10. Fried Fish

Freshen up this fried dish with a citrusy guacamole topping.

Club soda helps make this batter super crisp, without being oily. Beer is another alternative if you like malt flavor!

Since fish has such a mild taste, I like to use guacamole with a hint of cayenne and onion. For even more freshness, try making a guacamole bruschetta with diced tomatoes, avocado, and onion.

11. Smoked Salmon

These no rice salmon rolls are my favorite recipe for a low-carb sushi dinner!

Cured smoked salmon has a distinct saltiness that goes so well with mild avocado. The fresh lime juice and cilantro complement the fattiness of the salmon and freshen up the whole dish.

I like to add a crunchy element like cucumber to my sushi rolls for texture. A sprinkle of sesame seeds will add an element of umami to round everything out.

12. French Fries

Loaded french fries with guacamole are the ultimate late-night treat!

When you have a craving, french fries have a way of hitting the spot! But french fries are always better with a tangy dip, or toppings in this case!

Feta cheese, guacamole, and Mexican seasoned ground beef are just some of the toppings that taste amazing on fries. Use sweet potato instead of regular potato for an authentic southern flair.

13. Vegetable Patties

These vegetable patties will fill you up for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner!

These versatile vegetable patties are an excellent substitute for breakfast sausages or as a sandwich filling. The Cajun seasoning makes them the perfect pairing for Mexican meals.

You can also serve these veggie patties in place of beef burgers, with guacamole instead of ketchup. These little patties freeze well too, and can be reheated in the microwave in minutes!

14. Fully Loaded Nachos

There’s so much more to nachos than just salsa and sour cream!

Whether you’re watching the game or having a drink, these loaded nachos are the perfect snack to share with friends. Load them up with spiced ground beef, black beans, lots of cheddar, and a dollop of guacamole!

I like to serve loaded nachos with extra guacamole and salsa on the side for dipping.
