Guacamole is a staple of Mexican cuisine. It’s made from mashed avocados with lime juice, salt, and sometimes additions like onion and cilantro.

The Aztecs enjoyed guacamole with tortillas as far back as the 1500s. The name guacamole is actually a simplification of the Aztec term “ahuaca-mulli” which means avocado sauce or mixture.

This creamy irresistible dip is now a staple at parties and special events like the Super Bowl and Cinco de Mayo. Guacamole and chips are the quintessential appetizer at any Mexican restaurant, and also make a delicious nacho topping.

But foodies know that guacamole can be so much more than a dip! From soups to seafood, I’ve put together this list of delicious and out-of-the-box ways to use guacamole.

Chips and fresh guacamole are the power pairing everyone knows and loves.

There’s something about the contrast between a crunchy corn chip and this creamy dip! These homemade deep-fried corn chips are extra thick, so no breakage!

For a zesty, summery flair, try adding a squirt of lime juice to your chips.

Grilled cheese is one of my favorite comfort foods, but it’s not necessarily healthy. Swap out buttery guacamole instead of cheese and you get a creamy but also nutritious filling!

Additions like sliced tomato and bacon can truly elevate the flavor of this dish. If you’re looking for a Mexican-inspired snack, try including guacamole and a spicy cheese like Pepper Jack.

Club soda helps make this batter super crisp, without being oily. Beer is another alternative if you like malt flavor!

Since fish has such a mild taste, I like to use guacamole with a hint of cayenne and onion. For even more freshness, try making a guacamole bruschetta with diced tomatoes, avocado, and onion.

These no rice salmon rolls are my favorite recipe for a low-carb sushi dinner!
